During the renovation, the memorial stone from 1956 was carefully removed during the demolition of the current facade of Machinefabriek Boessenkool and a remarkable discovery was made. Behind this memorial stone was a real time capsule in the form of a sealed copper tube containing a letter for posterity that gives a beautiful picture of the period in question. The letter contains company information such as the parties involved in the construction, the size of the machinery and the hourly wages, iron prices and annual turnover. Facts for posterity at the time of the machine factory’s move to its current location in 1956.
