The photo was taken in 2019 – the 50th time that the annual prize was awarded.
During the award ceremony, Eelco Osse stated: “The reason for awarding the prize is a matter of creating connections, helping each other. On the one hand, the schools and their talented students benefit from it because it makes future prospects visible. On the other hand, it helps the metal & electrical sector, which is continuously looking for talented employees.
The latter is actually timeless, because Johan Boessenkool, the then owner of Machinefabriek Boessenkool, was already suffering from staff shortages at the time. For that reason, he entered into a partnership with the training institute for metal in Almelo. That collaboration lasted a long time and my father enthusiastically continued that embrace of the relevant training institutes.
In their footsteps, I am following in the same line with this fiftieth edition of the Boessenkool Prize as a beautiful milestone.” The Boessenkool Prize is all about motivation, getting students excited: “With this prize we show that we encourage young, potential professionals to do the important future innovations. And who knows, they might do that at the Machinefabriek Boessenkool.”
