Boessenkool

1965 Our Jan

  back to the timeline

One of the employees who is mentioned in the same breath when we talk about the history of Boessenkool is Bolk. Jan Bolk to be precise. After he walked around the machine factory curiously at the age of 13 and had looked around at Philips, he immediately found his place at Boessenkool as a 15-year-old ‘curly-haired boy’.

Being able to work independently, great responsibility and being appreciated when you had done something well have stayed with Jan from day 1 to this day. Professional, team leader, customer contact person, source of information and he could also be found at trade fairs, he went on the road for the purchase of machines or one of the other company activities.

In addition to his calm, friendly, reliable, loyal character and his enormous work ethic, his professional knowledge and enjoyment have also contributed to the development of Boessenkool and the pleasant working atmosphere. His statement ‘If wie’t nie kuunt, kan niemand ’t.’ is still heard regularly in the machine factory. Jan has also had his fair share of anniversary parties: 40-45-50 years in service… they just stopped until Jan actually retired.

Nice detail: Jan fully contributed to the realization of the Boessenkool history stories in 2022 and also privately owned beautiful photos from the old Johan and Nico Boessenkool days. Anyone who enters Boessenkool could easily run into him at the age of 70+. So why retire?
