J. Boessenkool garage

Car dealers did not exist at the beginning of the 20th century and if parts on cars had to be replaced, you often had to make them yourself. Over the years, many axles, spring leaves and kingpins were made, which were then used in the garage itself.

Anyone who walked past Boessenkool’s garage at the time, cycling or moving around with a horse and carriage: it was a familiar and impressive sight to see a row of Model T Fords lined up. In 1921, Boessenkool became a Ford dealer and until 1927 the garage sold the Model T Ford, among other things.

Did you know that the Model T Ford:

  • was called Tin Lizie in the US?
  • was the first mass-produced car?
  • each employee performed one action in the process?
  • as a four-seater open tourer at the time started at $850?
  • the price dropped to $550 in 1913 to $290 in 1924?
  • in 1918 half of all cars in the world were Model T Fords?
  • more than 15 million were sold between 1908 and 1927?
